Expansion and Renovation of the Program
Johns Hopkins purchased a second state-of-the-art PET machine and cyclotron in 1999 to provide patient studies and radionuclides for the clinical service. Studies from this scanner have the advantage of higher resolution and near-immediate turnaround. Since the radiopharmaceuticals are manufactured on the premises, there is no travel time and radioactivity is not lost through decay. The savings in cost and time are important to the referring community. Additional staff has been added to ensure prompt service to both patients and their physicians. Consultations are available throughout your patient's evaluation and treatment.
